David Laflamme joined UNH in 2003 as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy. He spends 60% of his time serving as the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Epidemiologist for NH through a contract between the NH Institute of Health Policy and Practice and the NH Department of Health and Human Services. As the MCH Epidemiologist, he supports the use data to inform the Maternal and Child Health Section’s multiple programs focused on improving the health of mothers and children throughout NH.

David teaches Evaluation in Public Health and Social and Behavioral Health courses in the Master of Public Health program. His primary areas of research interest include maternal and child health, social and behavioral health, evaluation, and data quality of public health datasets. He is an advocate of the open source collaborative development of statistical software programming in public health.

David is a member of the American Public Health Association, the National Association of Public Health Statistics and Information Systems, Eta Sigma Gamma, Phi Beta Kappa, and various other professional and honorary organizations. David graduated with a B.S. in Health Education from Plymouth State College in 1989. He later completed his M.P.H. in International Health at Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine in 1997, and completed his Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management and Social & Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2003.
