Amy Costello is a Research Associate at the New Hampshire Institute for Health Policy and Practice. She works closely with the Institute and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services on a number of health data-related projects. She is assisting in the revision of the Hospital Discharge Data collection rules, and provides research and support on the Hospital Charge and Use website (to be released in summer of 2006) which presents charge and use data for common health services and procedures at all NH hospitals). As part of her responsibilities with DHHS, she also continues to update and manage the content of the Health Data Inventory website, a single web-based community resource for health information and reports. Amy also provides support to the NH HealthWRQS Project (web-based reporting and query system), a DHHS initiative to make consumer community health information more accessible to community health professionals. She also provides support on the Healthcost project , a NHID website that currently presents price data for the most common procedures (based on data from the 3 largest insurance companies in NH). In addition, she coordinated the development and instruction of "Prove It" a Data 101 course for community health data users. Amy came to UNH from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where she was Data Manager and Analyst for the REACH 2010 Breast and Cervical Cancer Project, a project aimed at investigating and eliminating racial disparities in health. While completing her Masters of Public Health degree in 1999, she co-authored a compendium of data on women's reproductive health in developing countries.
